An 80-year-old former postmaster has been building an exact scaled-down replica of the Taj Mahal in his village Kaser Kalan, Bulandshahr, in Uttar Pradesh.
Faizul Hasan Quadri started building the mausoleum after his wife of 53 years, Tajamulli Begum, passed away in 2011.
Since then, Quadri took up the task of building the monument as a symbol of his love for Tajamulli. He has exhausted most of his life’s savings to build the mausoleum.
However, help came in the form of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who had met Quadri last month and promised to support him.
Quadri has only one wish — to see his labour of love completed before his own death.
