Over 168 million children worldwide are in the clutches of child labour, and this is what the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation new video talks about.
Titled ‘Wake Up’, the video runs along two parallel storylines, showing the lives of two children.
Both children wake up in the morning, and get ready, only for one to go to school, while the other goes ahead to work at a dingy roadside eatery. The stark contrast in the backgrounds brings out the deprivation of one, and the privilege of the other in a simple yet obvious manner.
The video finally urges viewers ‘wake up’ to child labour, by supporting a child’s education.
12 June is observed by the United Nations as ‘World Day Against Child Labour’.
