On Wednesday, boxing’s international federation voted to allow professional boxers to compete at the Olympic Games.

Even though the news came just two months before the Rio edition, pro-boxers across the world still seemed excited at the prospect of another shot at a medal for their counties. Among the many was India’s Vijender Singh.

Having made the switch to the glitzy world of pro-boxing last year, Vijender had given up his right to represent the Indian flag. The landmark ruling though once again opened the gates for him. But the question was, will the Beijing Olympics medalist want to compete it Rio? Will he want to move back to a less lucrative, WADA governed side of his sport, though only for a few weeks?

The boxer was only too excited when answering those questions in front of a camera.

100 percent I want to compete in Rio but there are many formalities that need to be completed. If you ask me, I would like to go tomorrow itself and compete. Though my pro fight in New Delhi is also in July, I am hoping it does not clash with the qualifiers.
