Microsoft wants to ensure that large scale incidents like Wannacry do not ruin their reputation, which is why they’ve started a bug bounty program that hands out big rewards.

The Windows maker will pay up to $2,50,000 to any developer who finds flaws and bugs in Windows 10 and reports that to the team at Microsoft.

Any critical or important class remote code execution, elevation of privilege, or design flaws that compromises a customer’s privacy and security will receive a bounty, Microsoft highlighted.

They also have specific conditions for the payment to be, especially to those, who find the bug which have already been detected by Microsoft’s developer team.

Microsoft has been running the bounty program since 2012 but apparently, the company is expanding it to cover more ground in Windows 10.
