Apple currently ranks 10th among other brands in the Indian market, which is led by Samsung, the latest IDC data reveals.

In order to aid its India operations, the tech giant has already been exempted from the condition which stated that they had to source components locally.

Apple hopes to roll-out full-fledged manufacturing from 2018, after the iPhone assembly phase takes off. This implies a fall in iPhone prices in India.

However, as Reuters suggest, nobody is certain as to how Apple will reduce the price of the locally-assembled iPhone SEs for India. The market response to the iPhone SE in India, when it was launched for upwards of Rs 39,000, was tepid, to say the least.

Interestingly, brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo, among others, are making louder noises than ever before. This means that for the iPhone SE to do well in the country in 2017, Apple will need to get its pricing right.
