Apple likes to keep its business neat and clean, and the same can be said with regards to its product line strategy. So, the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus heralds the end of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus across the globe.
All good things come to an end and Apple has nailed it with the news of discontinuing the first 4.7-inch iPhone, launched in 2014.
The phone was seen as a big and much-needed change from Apple, especially when most consumers were warming up to big-size devices, up to 5.5-inch. Which is why we also got the first iPhone Plus version along with the iPhone 6 that year.
But with a new iPhone version added every year, it was inevitable that Apple would have to sacrifice one of its existing models and sadly, the iPhone 6 has borne the brunt.

The fact that Apple has culled the iPhone 6 from its portfolio does not ruin your chances of getting the iOS 10 update later this month. But in all probability, this will be the last year that the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus gets the newest iOS version.
