Yamaha launched its third version of the famous YZF R15, on Wednesday, 7 February, at the Auto Expo 2018 at a price of Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

At this price, the newly improved and redesigned YZF R15, with its 155cc engine in tow, will go up against other full-fairing bikes like the Pulsar RS300 and the Karizma ZMR from Hero.

Consumers have kept a close eye on the return of the YZF R15 due to the massive popularity the bike has garnered. Yamaha owed a long-standing upgrade to the bike and boy, has the Japanese automobile maker lived up to its promise.

The bike offers 19.3 PS of power, up from the pevious figure of close to 17 PS and produces 15NM of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

In addition to this, Yamaha is offering the YZF R15 with assistive and Slipper clutch, which is sure to improve the riding profile of the bike, especially while shifting gears during deceleration.

The new R15 comes with 170mm ground clearance and a net weight of 139 kg, as claimed by Yamaha. The version three of bike should be an interesting addition to the 150cc segment in India.

Pre-bookings for the Yamaha YZF-R15 have already begun at Rs 5,000 as reported earlier by Overdrive, and Yamaha India states that the performance-oriented motorcycle will be available at its dealerships later this year.
