Xiaomi launched a slew of new Mi TV models on 17 September in India, adding a new 4K version with 65-inch screen.
But the most headlining feature for this series was that you can stream content from platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, now available through dedicated buttons on the TV remote itself.
This will appeal to a lot of new buyers, especially those who’ve been waiting for this support but what about those who’ve already bought the Mi TV, do they get the support as well?
While this wasn’t confirmed at the event, Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain later tweeted out the news about which models will be able to support the video streaming platforms.
As you can see in this tweet, Mi TV 4A Pro, 4C Pro and 4 Pro with their respective screen sizes will get the update, most likely by end of 2019.
However, when you scroll through Xiaomi’s TV range in India on its website, there are still quite a few models which have not been mentioned in this list.
We’re specifically talking about the Mi TV 4X Pro as well as the Mi TV 4 series, that helped Xiaomi scale up in the Indian television market. Have they not been mentioned because the Netflix app won’t run on them?
We’re hopeful that the models missed out from the list will also get updated in the near future, otherwise, Xiaomi will have a lot of disgruntled customers looking for answers.
