Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Bursts Inside a Man’s Pocket, Investigation On

The phone exploded inside the man’s pocket while he was riding his bike.

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4 phone exploded in a person’s pocket earlier this week, and the matter is now under investigation with Xiaomi.

The incident was first reported on 14 August, and after reaching out to the victim and collecting the exploded device from the owner, Xiaomi’s design team has confirmed they’re looking into the reasons due to which the explosion happened.

Customer safety is of utmost importance to Xiaomi and we treat such cases with absolute priority. We have been able to procure the damaged device from the customer today after multiple conversations with him for the last three days. We are currently carrying out a thorough investigation and the device is being tested by service engineers.

According to media reports in the region, the victim’s name was Bhavana Suryakiran, who is a resident of Ravulapalem in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The report quotes Suryakiran saying that the phone burst into flames inside his pocket while riding on his bike.

This meant that he couldn’t take any evasive action quickly, having to wait to stall the bike, before throwing the phone away on the road. Few people tried dousing the fire by pouring water onto the burning phone, but the reports say that it didn’t really help the matter.

Exploding phones have become rather a common sight recently, with Samsung’s explosive Galaxy Note 7 coming on top of our mind.

There have been other incidents reported recently, but the fact that Xiaomi has reached out to the owner of the phone means this isn’t just another fake news.
