Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 8 Series in India Starting at Rs 9,999

Xiaomi has upgraded its Redmi Note series in India with the eighth generation series that gets four rear cameras.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro in India with prices starting from Rs 9,999 and the phones will be available from next week onwards.

The new flagship device in the Redmi series comes with a 6.53-inch full HD display with 395 pixels quality. This bezel-less display offers 91.4 percent screen to body ratio which is also HDR enabled.

For protection, the Redmi 8 Pro uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and the back. The phone will be offered in three color variants: Green, White and Black. It also comes with IP52 for dust and water resistance.

In terms of processing power, the new Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a MediaTek Helio G90T processor, that is a first on a Xiaomi device in the country. The company says that this setup is primarily targeted at gamers.

Graphics processing is handled by a Mali-G76 MC4 unit. Xiaomi also becomes the first mobile brand in India to offer Amazon’s Alexa as the default voice assistant. The device comes in a 6GB and an 8GB RAM RAM variant.

The phone has been made available with internal storage options of 64GB and 128GB which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. It is dual SIM supported, and offers a separate microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Battery back up is managed by a 4500mAh battery which also supports an 18W fast charger, bundled with the phone in the box.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro boasts a quad-lens setup at the back. The 64-megapixel primary lens is backed by trio of an 8+2+2-megapixel setup. The company has added an ultra-wide lens for the first time in this series and it also comes with a dedicated macro lens which sits beneath the flash.

The company has partnered with Samsung in the optics department to come up with the 64-megapixel sensor. On the front, it sports a 20-megapixel snapper.

Xiaomi has also launched the Redmi Note 8 which comes with a quad camera setup at the back with a 48-megapixel primary sensor. It gets a 6.3-inch full HD display.

It's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset supported by Adreno 610 GPU. It comes with up to 6GB of RAM and internal storage of 128GB which is expandable up to 512GB.

In terms of battery juice, it comes with 4000mAh battery pack which as per Xiaomi offers 2 days of life.

With this phone, Xiaomi will be competing with Realme, Samsung and other brands in the mid-range segment in the country.
