Hugo Barra, the man who brought Xiaomi to India and gave the Chinese brand a global recognition, has stepped down from his post at Xiaomi.
The former Android head at Google, is now heading back to Silicon Valley, his ‘home’ after spending his time around China/India for the past 3.5 years.

Xiaomi made its appearance at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas, announcing a slew of products for the US market. He has also been instrumental in making Xiaomi a household brand in the Indian market, with its high-quality, yet affordable range of Mi phones and other smart gadgets like Mi Air Purifier 2 among others.

He’s penned down an emotional letter on Facebook sharing his experience at the company and working with its founder Lei Jun.
Before heading to Xiaomi, Silicon Valley was Hugo’s home, and it’ll be interesting to see what ‘big project’ is up his sleeve there next. And finally, we at The Quint hope that Hugo isn’t leaving our shores without fulfilling his dream of meeting King Khan.
