Xiaomi has been busy prepping up a slew of products in its laboratory, and most likely we might get to see its first-ever Windows laptop. Reports suggest that the Chinese brand will take Apple’s cue by offering a 11-inch and a 13-inch notebook.

Going by what they have managed to do with their phones in China and India over the past couple of years, we can’t wait to see how their laptops pan out. Fair to say that the brand will likely dish out products that will be powerful with its hardware, but at the same time priced for the masses.

This is something which can be said about their Redmi range of phones. Priced upwards from Rs 6,999, you get value for your money with features that are the bare minimum nowadays. Then you also have the Redmi Note 3 series which, for a sub-10K phone gives you full-HD display, fingerprint scanner and high quality.

Now, if Xiaomi can be entrusted with a Windows laptop, then one has to be quietly confident of getting another value-for-money product from their stable.

This could propel other brands in the notebook market to upgrade their portfolio, which can only be good news for consumers. Right now, if you spend anywhere around Rs 20,000 you get a 11 to 14-inch laptop with entry-level hardware, 2GB RAM and minimal storage.

But going by Xiaomi’s record, one can expect their laptop to come powered by Core i3 or even Core i5 with 4GB memory and at least 128GB storage within the same price range.

Which is why we feel that if Xiaomi is really serious with its laptop (and brings it to India soon), they can repeat their Redmi success in India. The only difference being you get a quality laptop at a pocket-friendly price. Let’s see if Xiaomi does really unveil the much talked about laptop later this month.
