Xiaomi’s big announcement for India is the Redmi Note 3 smartphone which will be available in the coming weeks.
The company had teased ‘Big Announcement’ over the past few days, but now the surprise is out with the full-metal body Redmi Note 3. They’ve tweeted out the news about the product which will be making its way for consumers in the country very soon. To get things kicking, Xiaomi will be running the Redmi Note 3 Explorer program which gives users the chance to win goodies from the brand.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 succeeds the Redmi Note 2 (4G) that stood as an affordable phablet option for buyers last year. However, with the influx of phones like Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, Xiaomi had no option but to introduce the Redmi Note 3 variant, sooner rather than later. Xiaomi will be bringing the Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3, as the company is legally prohibited from selling the Mediatek model owing to patent issues with Ericsson.

The phone comes in two variant; 2GB RAM with 16GB on-board storage and 3GB RAM model offers 32GB storage. In addition to the memory and storage improvement, Redmi Note also manages to pack a 16-megapixel camera at the back and 5-megapixel on the front. Much like every other phone, you also get the fingerprint scanner on the backside of the phone, right underneath the camera lens.
Xiaomi has not revealed the launch date or India pricing for the Redmi Note 3 but if priced around Rs 10,000 we might have another budget Android phone worth buying on our list.
