WhatsApp users both on iOS and Android are currently able to preview messages and images that are sent to them. These updates had been rolled out on the Facebook-owned messaging app months ago.
However, according to reports by WABetainfo, there might be another update in the pipeline, where Whatsapp users will be able to preview audio files sent to them in the notification bar.
The feature is currently being tested on iPhones for now.
WABetainfo has shared screenshots on its platform which showed a voice note with a ‘Play’ button and a sound timeline. Clearly, this is a preview of what the actual feature could look like.
The company hasn’t announced when it would be rolling out the final version of the feature and when is it likely to come to Android.
Having said that, it’s safe to assume that the voice note preview feature will be coming out in the next big update from WhatsApp.
WhatsApp was also seen testing a media edit feature called Quick Edit Media Shortcut. The feature will allow users to quickly edit phones and videos they receive in their inbox.
Also, WhatsApp is reportedly in the process of submitting a report to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to allow the messaging platform to operate in India’s payment space with all required approvals.
Currently, the payment feature in WhatsApp is in its beta stage and being tested in India but hasn’t been able to release a full version because of some restriction posed by the NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India).
