One of the most anticipated features of WhatsApp, the group video call feature, is here. WhatsApp on Tuesday announced complete roll out of the group video calling feature on both Android and iOS.

“You can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new "add participant" button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call,” WhatsApp said in a blog.

Just like Facebook Inc’s other platform Instagram, WhatsApp will also allow up to 4 people on a single group call. WhatsApp also confirmed that group video calls are also going to be end-to-end encrypted.

With over 1 billion user base and a daily average of 2 billion minute calling on the app, this is the right time for WhatsApp to announce the feature. WhatsApp also takes the number of Facebook apps that support group video calling to three, after the feature was announced on Instagram recently.

Over the last couple years, people have enjoyed making voice and video calls on WhatsApp. In fact, our users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day. We’re excited to announce that group calls for voice and video are coming to WhatsApp starting today.
