After Mumbai, Uber will now offer a food delivery service in Delhi-NCR. In its initial phase, UberEats will only be available in Gurugram.

UberEats obviously vies for space in the crowded food delivery market, where Zomato and Swiggy are considered to be the frontrunners.

So, in order to stand out, Uber is providing incentives like ‘no minimum order’ and ‘personalised orders’. This can help UberEats gain a leverage in the same way Uber has managed to do with OIa Cabs.

UberEats will offer delivery via two-wheelers. You’ll have to download the separate UberEats app to make use of the service (just what we needed, another app for ordering food).

When asked if UberEats could ever prowl around our streets on bikes, all they had to say is, we’ll keep exploring all available options.

Uber believes that its fast-changing experience in Mumbai has given them the learning curve to try out UberEats in NCR. Over 200 restaurants will serve consumers in Gurugram via UberEats.

UberEats starts its Delhi-NCR journey by resorting to payment via Paytm. What’s the reason behind Uber opting for Gurugram? Bhavik Rathod, Head, UberEats India said,

When we launched UberEats, Gurugram consumers registered the highest number of interest in the Delhi-NCR region, which is why we have started off with Gurugram.

Low network connectivity could hinder the efficiency of the service, for which UberEats will enable the delivery agents with back tracking to ensure your order doesn’t get late.

UberEats claims that every order will be delivered in an average time span of 35 minutes. Of course, it depends on the distance to be covered by the delivery person, and keeping the weather conditions in mind.

What Delhi Eats

According to Uber, Delhi people choose between Indian, Chinese or Pizza, their three favourites. In addition to that, Delhi people also like to order from varied menu options, delivered with assurance of quality, and in less time.

Currently, UberEats has on board brands like Chaayos, Pita Pit and Go Kylin among others. Many more are expected to follow.

Does Zomato and Swiggy have anything to worry about, and will Uber’s existing base of ridership enable UberEats to become a no-brainer app on their mobile? These questions can only be answered when UberEats spreads its wings.

In terms of lifestyle, purchasing power, and geography, UberEats might find Delhi-NCR different from what they’ve dealt in Mumbai.
