Twitter has turned to the darker side of things with its latest update that makes its Dark mode, darker.
The update brings to the app a proper black background, which the company is dubbing “lights out”. The biggest advantage of this is that it saves battery life.
The earlier version which has a dark blue background now gets a truly black background which is perfect for OLED displays.
No update on when the update will be rolled out for Android.
Since most of the modern iPhones come with an OLED screen, this new feature will definitely boost the battery capacity of users who spend most of their time on apps that support dark mode.
The OLED panels primarily lights up pixels that aren’t black which helps save a lot of energy. Twitter also argues that a proper black background helps reduce the eye-strain in low-lit conditions.
In order to apply the "lights out" mode on your iOS device, go to 'Setting and Privacy' option, select 'Display and Sound' and turn on the 'Dark mode' if it open already. You should be able to see a new "Lights Out" option as a sub menu.
