Starting November 16th, The Quint will be on Facebook’s much-awaited Instant Articles for Android and iOS. With only seven months behind it, The Quint is the youngest among the five Indian media publishers to be on Facebook’s Instant Articles platform.

The Instant Articles feature for publishers allows us to create feature-rich content on Facebook which will be hosted on the social media platform itself. Right now when publishers share news, articles and videos on their Facebook feed, it takes about 8 seconds for the page to load.

But as the content will be hosted on Facebook’s servers it will load instantly for users, hence, Instant Articles.

Facebook users don’t need to download an update for their app. You can identify an Instant Article by the lightning logo that appears on the top left of a shared article by The Quint.

We quickly saw that this was going to lift the user experience to an altogether different level. So when Facebook reached out, they had us at hello. We fast-tracked the implementation and had The Quint’s Instant Articles (test) out in a few weeks. We’re still fine-tuning the experience, but we’re very happy with the results so far.
Ritu Kapur, CEO, The Quint

With over 2.5 million followers on Facebook, The Quint is India’s fastest growing news website. Facebook Instant Articles were available on iOS only in the US and Western Europe. Their entry into India suggests Facebook’s recognition of the growing market with over 130 million users.
