Technology is synonymous with the future, which means we’re always looking forward to new things coming into the market. 2015 was big, but 2016 is going to be bigger. Watch every sci-fi movie that you’ve ever loved again, because pretty soon, you may be experiencing all the gadgets you’ve seen in them.

Well ok, a real life hoverboard may take some more time to build, but how about cars that can drive themselves and homes that can complete tasks before you even think of them?

How much RAM is too much RAM? The answer is there can never be too much. Chinese Internet company LeTV, which entered the smartphone space this year, is expected to launch a phone with 6GB of RAM. It’s hard to imagine what you’ll do with all that memory, but hey, excess RAM never hurts right? The Le Max 2, as rumours suggest, will be one of the next big things in the smartphone universe.

The Internet of Things is getting bigger by the day. While Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) all over the world present everything from smart bulbs to home security systems, they’re definitely going to focus more on this next year. Your phone will be connected to your smart home system, which will be connected to your TV, your speakers and lots more. Get ready to have truly futuristic homes where almost everything can be done by the click of a button!

Remember Jonny Quest? Yes, that animated series where an 11-year-old boy would enter a virtual reality environment to fight villains and solve life-threatening problems. Gadgets like the Oculus Rift, Sony Playstation VR and HTC Vive are bringing you closer to all of that. The HTC Vive literally allows you to walk around in a virtual environment. Imagine standing in some foreign land and exploring historical monuments without ever having to leave the comfort of your home.

No, there isn’t. It just has a computerised brain of its own, which allows the car to drive itself while you sit and enjoy a cup of joe. Elon Musk’s Tesla has already put self-driving cars on the road while Google has been testing them for a while now. There have even been rumours about Apple entering this space.

They will, at least, be much smarter than they are now. With technology like Android Auto and Apple Carplay, the automobile space is just waiting to get smarter. Big automakers have been showcasing really smart systems that don’t let you crash your car even if you want to. Your car will turn on the air conditioning five minutes before you’re going to drive, so on a hot summer day, you have a pre-cooled car and don’t have to deal with a steaming steering wheel.
