Creative is our resident audio brand and we have been reviewing its devices from Day 1. The company has revised its product portfolio over the years, and since wireless speakers are now the in-thing, the new Muvo 2 may just be what you’re looking for.

Priced at Rs 8,499, the Muvo 2 is a compact speaker that retains Creative’s tradition of water and dust resistant products. But is that enough to compete with the likes of JBL and Logitech?

Snapshot

Pros:

  • Sub-woofers pack loud music
  • Bass heavy
  • Water and dust resistant
  • Long battery life
  • More than a speaker (supports microSD card)
  • Value for its money

Cons:

  • Buttons need backlight

What’s Good?

Design-wise, Creative has made sure that the Muvo 2 can be your take-it-anywhere kind of a speaker. It comes with dust and water resistance, making it the ideal music companion for your travels. This isn’t the most attractive looking speaker in the market, but it gets the job done.

That solidity is well matched with its built-in three channel sub woofers that offer loud music with a fine level of bass that goes hand in hand.

We were surprised by the audio levels of this speaker. The audio doesn’t crack even when you crank up the volume.

We tried multiple music genres, starting with classics like Dylan’s ‘Tambourine Man’, to test the vocal depth of the woofers. We got crisp notes in return. The Muvo 2 impresses with its bass prowess, something that became evident after we played some The Doors, Guetta and Martin Garrix.

The other thing that works in the Muvo 2’s favour is its versatility. The speaker supports microSD card and connects with another audio units as well.

And finally, the Creative Muvo 2 speaker lasts up to 8 hours on a single charge. This falls short of the company’s claims of 10 hours, but eight hours is still a good deal. The device can be charged via the microUSB port.

What’s Bad?

No deal-breakers here, except for the buttons. We can’t help but wish the buttons were backlit and more user-friendly.

Why Buy It?

Creative packs enough meat and substance in the Muvo 2 speaker for us to rank it as one of the best speakers we’ve tested till date. A loud product in a compact package that doesn’t cost a bomb, what’s not to like?

The Muvo 2 also performs well in terms of durability and versatility, factors that rivals in this segment, like JBL Pulse, lack. For Rs 8,499, this one gets our thumbs up.
