Reliance Jio is battling hard to meet the demand for JioPhone, which means the wait will get longer for those who ordered the phone in the first batch.
According to an India Today report, Reliance Jio store dealers have confirmed that Jio isn’t expected to start delivery of the JioPhone before second week of September.
This goes against the promise made by Jio at the launch event that those who pre-order the phones from 24 August (first come, first serve) will start getting their devices from 1 September.

In addition to that, the spillover effect of the delay means Jio has suspended the next round of pre-bookings. Jio was expected to ship one lakh units of JioPhone everyday to meet the demand for the phone, which is effectively free.
Pre-orders were done by consumers via Reliance Digital stores or the MyJio app (which can also be used to track the order).

Reliance Jio has been overwhelmed by the demand for JioPhone across the country, and they even claim that millions have pre-ordered the device in the first round. Jio had more than a month to gauge the response for JioPhone, but looks like they haven’t learnt their lessons from last year’s surge in demand for free Jio SIM.
The India Today report also talks about the likelihood of the delivery of JioPhone being restricted to cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai among others – on the beginning.
