Reliance Jio is back with a new set of 4G data plans in India and no surprises to see them going after Airtel’s latest plans. The telecom sector has been in a generous mood for almost 12 months now, with Jio forcing the initiative and bringing down data prices drastically.

So, in order to counter punch Airtel’s move, Jio has come out with Double Dhamaka offer that promises as much as 3.5GB per day with extended validity period for more than 28 days or even more.

Here’s a detailed list of plans that both Airtel and Reliance Jio are offering, and how it compares against each other.

As claimed by Jio, the plans (mentioned above) clearly reflect that the telco is not only offering more data but more validity as well. We already know that voice calling on Jio is free, while most of its services like JioTV and JioCinema come bundled with the data plan.

But with Airtel, there seems to be a limit on the number of SMSs you can send or free voice calling minutes you are alloted on a day-to-day basis. It’s quite evident that Jio still manages to beat Airtel with its prepaid plans. Airtel, while coming close to Jio’s plans, does fall short in few areas.

The data benefits from Jio are only available to users who get their standard recharges done with any of these plans before 30 June.

Airtel has been under increasing pressure from Jio over quite sometime now, which has resulted in a big drop in their average revenue per user (ARPU) in the past few quarters.

Yes, Airtel can say that by offering Netflix and even Hotstar to its customers they are more or less matching Jio in terms of content. But at the end of the day, the user just wants to get value for money and Jio clearly has the upper hand.
