Most telcos are offering prepaid plans with up to three months of validity and data usage and most people would say that’s a lot of time and data in hand.
But India’s hunger for data and internet has grown multi-fold since Jio decided to shake things up few years back. Which is why, an Indian mobile user can opt for plans that not only last for months, but weeks and days as well. These are mostly called sachets plans, costing anywhere between Rs 19 to Rs 98, and offering up to 3GB data in one month.
Here’s a look at some of these plans from three telcos: Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea and Airtel that prepaid consumers can avail.
Reliance Jio
For those who’re really confined to a specific budget, you can consider the Rs 19 daily and Rs 52 sachet packs, that offers 150MB data for a day and a week respectively.
Moving on, the most affordable monthly plan from Jio is priced at Rs 98 which gives you a total of 2GB data for 28 days (one month) and free voice calls as per the norms. However, once you’re out of the allocated quota, the speeds are revised to 64kbps.
We also just noticed that Jio has slashed the price of its Rs 198 plan to Rs 149, with which you get 42GB data for 28 days, or as Jio likes to put it, 1.5GB per day. All these plans are attractive and it depends on which plan suits you the best.
Vodafone
With Vodafone, the sachet packs are priced at Rs 11, 33, 48 and 53 offering 60MB, 500MB, 2GB and 3GB respectively. There's a weekly plan for Rs 92 offering 6GB data.
If you’re in the market for more validity then the monthly packs for Rs 27, 46, 49 and 98 with which you get 450MB, 900MB, 1GB and 3GB respectively.
These aren’t bad either, especially when the data can be used for 2G/3G or 4G network but for people who want more talk time, these plans might not work for them.
Airtel
And finally, you have Airtel with a slew of plans for 3G and 4G network users. These also range from daily, weekly to monthly. But compared to its rivals, Airtel has kept it easy with its sachet plans.
You have a plan for Rs 9 with 100MB that comes with validity of one day. The rest are bundled with 28 days validity, priced at Rs 29, 48, 49 and 92 that’ll give you 520MB, 1GB, 3GB and 6GB data respectively.
If you’re stuck on the wrong network, which has become a nightmare with call drops, you can also consider switching to another telco via the mobile number portability (MNP) option.
