Pokemon Go Finally Launched in India, Ties up With Reliance Jio

Some have questioned the delay, but millions of Reliance Jio users can now play the game without paying data charges

Everyone’s favourite augmented reality game, Pokemon Go, has finally been officially launched in India. Niantic, the makers of the game, have partnered with Reliance Jio in the country. With this announcement, users of Pokemon Go can expect better GPS capability, enabling improved search for Pokemons in their vicinity.

Most people in the Twittersphere are questioning the point of launching it now. But the lure of playing Pokemon Go free of data charge for up to 31 March via the Jio Happy New Year Offer could be hard to ignore for a lot of users out there.

The game is available to users on Android as well as iOS. Partnering with Reliance Jio, Niantic has chosen various Reliance Digital to serve as stores Pokestops and Gyms.

But most of the chatter on social media ridicules the timing of the launch and question the point of launching it so late, months after it was globally made available.
