The Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app will be made available to iPhone users in the country in ten days from today.
The payment app, based on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), is currently available only to Android users via the Google Play Store.
In 10 days, the app will also be upgraded to support multilingual services. Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant took to Twitter to make the announcement.
While the app has recorded high download rates, BHIM is simply a rechristened version of the government’s UPI app, which was officially introduced in August 2016.

The app, which has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI), currently supports Android version 2.3 Gingerbread and upwards. The app connects directly with bank accounts with the help of an Aadhaar card and a registered mobile number. There is also talk of including a biometric/thumbprint integration feature within the app soon.
The delay in the launch of BHIM’s iOS version doesn’t come as a surprise as the number of Android smartphone users trumps that of the number of Apple users in India.
