You’ve seen gaming consoles, laptops and even smartphones nowadays but most people seem to miss out on the thrill while playing online with PCs. To make it better, Opera, the web browser maker has designed the first ever gaming browser called Opera GX which will work on any basic PC without needing a lot of power.
Now you must be wondering what can a gaming browser offer to users, and we had the same question while reading through the product. Initially, we thought the gaming browser will work much akin to Google’s Stadia online gaming platform.
But after going through this video from Opera, it became clear that the browser basically caters to your gaming appetite without eating too much of your PC’s hardware resources. This video here gives you more clarity on that.
We all know that gaming on browsers can be heavy exercise for the computer’s processing and RAM (memory) power. But with Opera GX, users will be able to throttle/minimise the use of RAM and processor, thereby making sure that the PC doesn’t freeze up or slow down to do other activities.
Before Opera GX, gamers often shut down their browsers in order to not slow down their gaming experience. We came up with the GX Control feature to make people’s games run more smoothly without requiring them to compromise on what they do on the WebMaciej Kocemba, Product Manager, Opera
The Opera GX claims to be serving those users, whose gaming needs are strictly confined to PCs, that too which doesn’t have a lot of juice in it.
In terms of user privacy, they can rely on free VPN access without signing in, allowing them to play games that aren’t even available in their region. It also has its own ad-blocker, making sure no harmful content gets passed on to the system.
Also, there’s a GX Corner, where you can get hold of free gaming titles, click on them and start gaming on the browser itself.
Phew, that’s a lot of stuff loaded into a browser, right? And guess what, the Opera GX is available for free, which can be downloaded from company’s website. We’ll probably give it a shot ourselves and see if this gaming browser is worth its hype.
