OnePlus has finally unveiled the OnePlus 5, its first flagship phone to offer dual rear cameras. The phone has been priced at $479 and can pre-order in the US and Europe right away. The India availability has been earmarked for 22 June, when the phone will be launched in the country.
The phone has been widely speculated, teased and marketed, but it's time to put those rumours to bed. OnePlus 5 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, running on Oxygen OS over Android 7.1 Nougat.
OnePlus 5 has been given a slim design profile, and with its 7.2-mm thickness, this is the slimmest OnePlus product ever to be announced, according to the company. However, you'll be pleased to know that OnePlus has retained the 3.5-mm audio jack, placed at the bottom of the phone, right next to the USB Type C port.
As we already know, the OnePlus 5 packs the Snapdragon 835 processor, which has been available with Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11 as of now. Other than the 6GB RAM, OnePlus 5 is also the first phone to come with 8GB RAM (crazy, right?). For storage, OnePlus feels that 64GB isn't enough, so you get a 128GB option as well.
OnePlus 5 will be available in Midnight Black and Slate Gray colour options. But the biggest change with the OnePlus 5 is the addition of dual cameras at the back.
You get a 20-megapixel tele-photo and 16-megapixel Sony's IMX sensors, with f/1.7 and f/2.6 aperture respectively, making it ideal for low-light photography according to Carl Peid, Co-founder, OnePlus. On the front, OnePlus has retained the 16-megapixel sensor for the front camera.
OnePlus 5 is also one of the first smartphones to support Bluetooth 5.0 standard and also the faster Wi-Fi connectivity support.
And finally, the phone is loaded with a 3300mAh battery and with OnePlus's patented Dash Charging technology, this is a reliable phone that can be used without fearing it dying on you.
