If you are on Twitter you’re probably familiar with ‘Direct Messages’.
If you are not, ‘Direct Messages’ are private messages on Twitter that you can send to those who follow you on Twitter and who follow you back.
In a novel attempt to increase its reach Twitter has now enabled ‘Direct Messages’ which makes it possible for users to receive messages directly from other users – regardless of whether they follow each other or not.
Now that can be dangerous for your privacy, right?
Twitter has a solution. It allows users to turn off Direct Messages from unknown users by changing their Twitter settings.
The change has been made available starting April 20, 2015 globally for all Twitter users.
