Nissan Motor India on Tuesday, 23 January, announced the launch of automated manual transmission (AMT) version of its redi-GO entry level model from Datsun stable, priced at an introductory price of Rs 3.8 lakh (ex-showroom).

It’s good to see that Nissan hasn’t really bumped up the pricing of the AMT variant, which is essentially the same 1-litre variant of the Redi-Go but with an AMT gearbox that also lets you switch to manual mode, if needed.

Datsun Redi-Go AMT is powered by the same 1-litre petrol engine, which was launched back in 2017. Datsun has done a fine job with the AMT variant of the Redi-Go. Driving around without switching gears was a pleasant experience.

Apart from AMT, the car is exactly the same as the standard one-litre variant, and we’ve got no qualms about that. You get the same power delivery, same ground clearance and the same interior finishing which we saw on the 1-litre model in 2017.
