We’re still a few days shy of the time when speculation is rife over the launch of yet another new iPhone. This year, however, the rumours have started pouring in a bit early as tech enthusiasts eagerly await the launch of a new iphone at Apple’s upcoming event in the second half of 2018.
Though, no official confirmation has been received, according to KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the new iPhone could be the headline makers at Apple’s upcoming event.
According to Kuo, Apple may be planning an iPhone with two physical SIM card slots and 6.1-inch screen.
Also in the pipeline could be a second LCD variant which be will be fitted with a same old single-SIM slot setup and could sell for between $550 and $650 dollars according to the analyst.
Unlike the existing dual-SIM phone which we see today, the analyst also went on to add that that Apple was working to bring support for two LTE networks on both the SIMs to enhance user experience.
Apple’s dual-SIM segment might also receive one of the biggest iPhone’s ever which could be a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone. The upcoming phone could be the upgrade or the successor to the iPhone X which comes with a 5.8-inch OLED panel.
There are also rumours that Apple is willing to part ways with long time chipset maker Qualcomm for their new line-up and join hands with Intel for their chipsets.
It is estimated that the mass production of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will begin in around three to five weeks and then there are reports that the OLED panel production will start in May this year followed by assembly shortly thereafter.
