Most telecom companies are working to get rid of the call-drops pain. And in addition to that, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is letting consumers monitor the internet speeds on mobile with its MySpeed app.
The app makes use of GPS on your mobile and you can test speeds of WiFi as well as data internet via your mobile operator.
Such apps have been present before, such as the Okla Speedtest which is trusted by many people in the industry. But since a regulatory authority like TRAI is offering the MySpeed app, most consumers will surely take the product as genuine.
The MySpeed app gives you Download as well as Upload speeds, which can be reported to TRAI without your details being shared with them. The app is available to users on Android via Google Play store.
It is encouraging to see that TRAI is making concentrated efforts to improve the internet sphere in the country. But this would only work, if the reports sent are met with quick-time action by the telecom officials across different parts of India.
