Right now there is a budget phone battle waging in the market with brands like Moto, Xiaomi, Lenovo and even Honor having a go at each other. Amidst all this enters another ultra-affordable phone from Moto – the Moto C – and this time we’ll tout it against one of the most fierce contender in this category, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, to see which is truly a bang for your buck device.

Redmi 4A Display: More Pixels More Punch

The Redmi 4A comes with a 5-inch HD display, which pumps out 296 pixels per inch. It is an IPS LCD screen that sports a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. On the other hand, the Moto C comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display with a meagre pixel density of 196 ppi. Resolution wise also the Moto C doesn’t sport pretty numbers with just 480x854 pixels.

Clearly the Redmi 4A sports a better display.

Both Decent Performers

The Redmi 4A and the Moto C vary a lot in performance and storage. Where the 4A runs on a Snapdragon 425 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, the Moto C is powered by a Mediatek MT6737M processor backed by 1GB RAM. Also the Redmi 4A comes with more storage i.e 16GB and 32GB, which is expandable up to 256GB while the Moto C offers just 8GB and 16GB storage options, which is expandable up to just 32GB. That’s way below par. The biggest advantage the Moto C holds is that it’s running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, which does give the phone some extra points.

The Megapixel Battle

There is hardly any competition for the Redmi 4A here. Where the 4A sports a 13-megapixel rear camera in combination with a 5-megapixel front snapper, the Moto C comes with a very ordinary camera combo of a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie shooter. Although, we do not have the Moto C to test right now, but numbers on paper suggest that there will be a huge difference in the camera quality of both with Redmi delivering better images.

Battery Back-Up 'B' Grade

Both phone comes with decent battery life, enough to run the hardware the devices come bundled with. Where the Redmi 4A comes with a non-removable 3120mAh battery, the Moto C packs a Li-Po 2350mAh removable battery. Slight upper hand with the Moto C’s removable battery pack.

Which One to Go For?

Going by what we see on paper, the Redmi 4A beats the pants off the Moto C in terms of specs. The Redmi 4A is available for as low as Rs 5,999 which according to us is a great deal. The Moto C hasn’t made it to Indian shores yet, but the international price of the phone which is 89 euros (roughly Rs 6,200) suggests that it might be priced around Rs 7,000 when it comes to India, which is much higher than the current Redmi offering.
