Mark Zuckerberg’s new focus in life is to empower people with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Zuckerberg, in a recent town hall in Berlin, Germany, was joined by Yann LeCun, Facebook’s head of AI research. The session was broadcast live via the Facebook app.
The session talked at length about Facebook’s current AI capabilities for basic pattern recognition, or “supervised learning.”
It also talked about Facebook’s future plans for AI.
Facebook presently uses a basic pattern recognition AI that is similar to IBM’s Deep Blue Computer that defeated Chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1997.
Facebook’s AI understands how users use the News Feed and then it’s capable of automatically making suggestions for them.
