With the LG G6 India launch right around the corner, there is an air of excitement in the tech world about what the phone is going offer. Post its global launch, people in India have been raring to have a go at the device.

Although it’s already available internationally, we are excited to find out whether it is capable of challenging the Samsung Galaxy S8 in India.

Improved Design, Wider Display

It was surprising that LG’s modular design philosophy received a very lacklustre reception. Because of this they thought bhaiya bohut hua and came back to basics.

The G6 now sports a smart combination of glass and metal with a blockish design and a wider 5.7 inch Quad HD display which is almost bezel-less covering 80% of the whole body. Better than the S8 display? We will have to wait and see.

Performance Not Top Notch

With major flagships these days sporting top tier Snapdragon 835 chipsets and 6GB RAM, it’s a bit disappointing to see the G6 coming with a second tier Snapdragon 821 and 4GB RAM. However, the dual-SIM capability and the 256GB expandable storage option saves the day for the G6. Also the Android 7.0 Nougat experience on the phone gives it some extra points.

More on Optics, Less on Battery

The LG G6 sports a dual camera system on the rear with two 13 megapixel lenses and also comes with a 5 megapixel front shooter. The LG V20 had a decent run with its dual camera although LG hopes for better success with the LG G6 optics.

Battery back-up on paper doesn’t seem to impress as the G6 sports only a 3,300 mAh battery inside. Yes, it does support wireless and fast charging technology, but getting through the whole day seems tough on just 3,300mAh. We’ll take a final call on the G6’s battery when we review the device.

How Much?

Usually, we never get to hear about the prices of the phone before the official launch but someone (Mahesh Telecom) has leaked the price online, which apparently stands at Rs 51,990. We still can’t vouch for the figure, but going by reports, LG could end up pricing the G6 lower than the Galaxy S8.
