Just over a month ago, Lexus, the international automotive brand, teased a quick look of its hoverboard prototype. And it took the world by storm.
Hoverboards, often seen in the realm of sci-fi movies and an object of immense nerdgasm, are finally here.
The Lexus Hoverboard, also called SLIDE, has been demonstrated the video.
The board uses maglev technology, similar to the ones employed in China and Japan’s bullet trains. Liquid nitrogen cooled semiconductors work with the magnet to create additional repulsion to the gravity. And thus it floats.
The company has refused to comment on any tentative pricing, and is also unsure if it’ll be ever available for commercial sale.
Whatever becomes of this, for now, our dreams have floated a tad closer to reality.
The Jetsons age is coming!
