Cute Design. Check. Legendary brand name. Check. Funky Colours. Check. Instant Gratification. Check. Affordable Price. Maybe? That is Leica’s Sofort.
‘Sofort’ is a German word that means ‘in a jiffy’ -a good name if you are a brand new Instant Camera from the legendary, uber-designer optics company, Leica. When millions of youth all over the world are taking to smartphones and Instagram-like photo sharing apps to document each and every moment of their lives, Instant Cameras are also seeing a surprising comeback.
After Fujifilm’s success with Instax series of Instant Cameras and the ubiquitously popular, but hard to get Polaroid instant cameras, Leica has decided to join the gang. The body has been designed by Leica’s legendary design team and comes in white, mint and orange colours.

The lens has a 34mm focal length, shoots on Fuji’s Instax mini film, comes with focus modes and eight shooting modes. While most competing cameras are cheaper by at least $100, Sofort is, however, the cheapest Leica camera you can buy. The instant camera will start retailing November onwards and we predict it will quickly become the gift of choice for design-conscious hipsters.
