Prepaid users all across the board are now supposed to pay more for their plans, this includes people who own the JioPhone as well. Reliance Jio has confirmed that its cheapest plan now costs Rs 75 per month, which includes free calling minutes to non-Jio users and data up to 3GB available for the period.

These revisions mean JioPhone users can no longer recharge for Rs 49, which was seen as a pocket-friendly offering for the entry-level users. This suggests Jio is hoping to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU) from all sections of its userbase.

A few months back, the company started offering new ‘all-in-one’ plans starting from Rs 75 per month, going up to Rs 185 and offering up to 2GB data per day.

With the new plans, the base plan provides 3GB data per month, which translates into 100MB data per day. If the users want more data usage per day, they’ll have to spend at least Rs 99 every month, which gives them 500MB data per day. However, you’ll have to spend an extra Rs 10, 20, 50 or 100 to get free calling minutes to non-Jio users.

In addition to this, the new plans for JioPhone offer 500 minutes of voice calls to non-Jio mobile network and claimed to be offering 25 percent more value than its competitors. Here’s a closer look at the new plans available with the telco.

The new prices might not look very expensive, but for the JioPhone userbase, spending that extra Rs 30 every month would be challenging. It remains to be seen if Jio can entice these users to spend extra, especially after getting them addicted to the free data frenzy.
