Reliance Jio is going to let the users of Jio GigaFiber make video calls, chat by using their fixed line number through its JioCall app.
Before you start wondering about this app, Jio has revamped its existing Jio4G Voice app and rebranded it as JioCall, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The interesting thing about the new version of the app is you can sign up to it by using a fixed line number, and still make video call or even chat with friends.
In addition to this, it also features stickers, which basically makes it a viable WhatsApp alternative for mobile as well as fixed line phone Jio users.
The renaming of the app is also an indication that the launch of Jio GigaFiber is around the corner, with many of us expecting the upcoming Reliance AGM in July to be the platform where it gets rolled out across the country.
The option to sign in with JioCall depends on if you have a Jio mobile number, or its fixed line connection, which will augment the use of Jio GigaFiber service.
The app houses all basic messaging and calling feature, and even lets you make it as the default message app for the device. For calling, the app says you can only make rich HD voice calls through this app, which basically implies that a Jio to Jio voice call will deliver the best possible experience of the platform.
It’ll be intriguing to see how a landline connection will facilitate all these features.
JioCall is one of the many apps from the Reliance Jio that are getting constantly upgraded or revamped. But that’s not all, the company is also working on a slew of other apps, one of which called Jio Motive we spotted on Google Play store recently.
The much anticipated launch of Jio GigaFiber will open up the path for many more services from the company, including the availability of its internet-based TV service.
