ISIS, the global terrorist outfit was ousted from popular social messaging platforms like WhatsApp and more recently Telegram for obvious reasons. So, what do they end up doing instead? They work on an exclusive messaging platform that can be used to communicate between their channels across the world.

The app has been given varied names from the Amaq Agency app to Alrawi. According to the counter-terrorism organization, Ghost Security Group, the platform available on Android offers encrypted messages that are safe from hackers and cyber authorities hunting them down.

You Won’t Even Know

The app works like any other messaging platform to transmit the message in the form of codes and cryptic language that can be read by the members of the community largely based out of Syria.

Making use of the dark web, the app ensures the ISIS community can prolong its hiring activity in the open, and even share its propaganda with the world, without anyone noticing their activities or motives.

The decision to create a secure messaging app by ISIS may have been taken after Telegram decided to shut down their group forums. This was highlighted by its CEO, Pavel Durov who stated that over 600 channels have been removed since the Paris attacks late last year.

Social messaging is the easy way to reach out to people across different parts of the world and most of it is done cryptically keeping it alien to layman users. The use of the dark web offers ISIS the chance to communicate via backdoor channels that mostly go unnoticed.

Ever since the news of the Amaq Agency app came out in the public, the platform seems to have shifted to another location, making things more complicated for the people on the lookout for the platform.
