Hyperloop One is focusing on the Indian market with its futuristic transportation solution, which can reduce travel time from days to a few hours.
Mumbai to Delhi in 80 minutes, Bengaluru to Trivandrum in 40 minutes: All this is doable using the company. But has India got its eyes set on something which is realistic in the near future?
The HyperLoop One event in Delhi on Tuesday showed us their concept and the technology involved, but no clear strategy as to how and when this will kick start in the country.
Here’s The Quint’s Facebook Live from the event.
Hyperloop is a mode of public transport that involves thrusting a pod-like vehicle through a tube at high speeds. A Hyperloop runs faster than an aircraft and can achieve speeds of 1,120 kmph. The technology was conceptualised by Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
On Tuesday’s event in Delhi, a HyperLoop One spokesperson highlighted freight movement using the technology.
But India wants to know how long will it before before people can travel between Delhi and Mumbai at the promised super-fast speeds.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu stressed that India is studying the prospect of joining hands with HyperLoop One.
