Google Maps on Thursday introduced three new features for Indian users to help them discover local experiences and get recommendations that are personalised for better dining experience.

In addition to this, they’ve added an "Offers" section to help users find deals and claim them at restaurants in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai among others.

The "Offer" feature is being launched in partnership with EazyDiner, where users can now find offers from over 4,000 restaurants, with more categories and partners coming soon, Google said.

This feature puts Google Maps as an unlikely competition to established players like Zomato and Dine-out in the Indian market.

Google has said that from 15 July onwards, users will get exclusive access to EazyDiner Prime offers for 15 days, across over 1,500 restaurants, with discount up to 25 percent.

How to Get Discount From Google Maps:

  1. Open Google Maps, swipe up to get Explore
  2. Look for Offers, click on it, and you’ll see a list of restaurants
  3. Here you can choose from host of places, and even browse through discounts on offer

EasyDiner has been entrusted with offering reservations at a slew of restaurants and eligible for cancellation of table as well.

This feature also uses the 'Your Match' score, which uses machine learning to combine the Maps knows about millions of places with the information a user has added like restaurants rating, cuisines liked, and places visited, the company said in its statement.

It’ll be interesting to see if mobile users, who frequently use Maps for navigation and directions, will prefer using this platform over others like Zomato for services like restaurant booking.
