Welcome Android O

Android 8.0 or O (Oh please let it be called the Oreo) is just around the corner, and Google will reveal its next Android iteration at the Google I/O 2017.

Android O has already made its way to developers in the form of the Preview version, and from what we’ve seen, things could get interesting this year for Android users.

Android O is also expected to feature Google’s new design element, which could probably mean the Android on your phone in 2017-18 could be different from the one you have right now.

Google Home

After showcasing its first voice-assistant enabled hardware last year, experts are of the opinion that Google could give Home an upgrade. Will it take a cue from the new Amazon Echo and fix a screen on the Google Home? We’ll have to wait and watch.

Android Wear 2.0

Even after making serious efforts to improve the fortunes of Android Wear last year, Google has yet to attract smartwatch makers to adopt the latest version of Android for wearables.

Battery life still remains a concern with Android Wear 2.0, and hopefully the people at Android have found a cure for that. We’ll know more about the version at the keynote next week.

DayDream VR

This could be the year when Google takes its mission Virtual Reality to the masses. DayDream VR was specifically launched so that affordable devices could support VR, thereby giving access to people across the globe.

In this regard, we expect Google I/O 2017 to unveil more app support and more devices that are compatible with DayDream VR. Anything other that will be bonus.

Google Does ‘Stories’

What are the chances of Google doing its own ‘Stories’ to go against Facebook and Snapchat? We haven’t heard about it much, but if Google plans to spring a surprise at the conference, this could just be it.
