Infamously known as ‘the phone that blew up’, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is all set to make a comeback with ‘anti-boom certification’ (just kidding). Basically, all the Note 7 devices that Samsung has recalled after their faulty battery fiasco have been refurbished and will be sold starting with South Korea from 7 July.

Anything New?

Dubbed the Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition (FE), no changes have been made to the design of the smartphone. The only change implemented is the battery capacity, which has been brought down to 3200mAh from the previous 3500mAh. Also, the Samsung logo has disappeared from under the earpiece, and a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition logo is on the back.

A total of 400,000 units of the refurbished smartphone will go on sale at around $600 per piece, which is roughly Rs 39,000. The devices will start selling in South Korea initially and then Samsung will decide later when to ship them to other countries, including India. The US won’t receive the new Note phones.

Samsung has said that 30 percent fewer units of the new Note 7 Fan Edition will be sold compared to the original Note 7. The primary objective seems to be clearing the inventory and moreover catering to the ones who suffered from the withdrawal. Also they wouldn’t want the Note 7 (FE) to steal the limelight before the upcoming new Note 8.
