India's biggest e-commerce platform, Flipkart is reportedly doubling down on its technological base in Israel, an Economic Times report said on Tuesday, 2 April.
This comes about six months after the company had acquired analytics startup Upstream Commerce, the ET report said, quoting people aware of the development.
According to the report, the company is putting in place a management team and an R&D centre focusing on cyber security, cloud computing and data protection apart from looking for acquisitions in Israel.
Flipkart's efforts of expansion in Israel comes as other tech giants like Google, Facebook, Apple and others are trying to tap into the country's thriving talent.
Flipkart had also set up an office in Palo Alto, California for its R&D lab for working on AI and Machine Learning solutions.
According to the report, Flipkart had declined to comment on the specifics. The report, however, quoted the company as saying that it is looking forward to making Israel one of its excellence centres.
