Oppo may not be as popular as Xiaomi in India but that’s not stopping the brand from warming up to the country which has got Apple’s attention right now. The Oppo F1, as per the company, is targeted at selfie lovers, who can click pictures and edit them using the available touch ups.

The phone has a 13-megapixel camera at the back and the company claims it can offer images at 50-megapixel resolution. The 5-inch phone gets the apt balance with its 137 grams weight ratio but we found the phone to be a lot lighter during our brief time with it. However, for 15K, we’re not sure if people will be content with an HD (1280x720 pixels) resolution display.

The brand has managed to club the hybrid SIM slot with the phone that can either work as a dual-SIM device, or else expand storage up to 128GB with use of microSD. The phone is equipped with Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor with 3GB RAM that should more or less fit into the requirement of a generic smartphone user these days.

The next best thing to talk about the Oppo F1 is the 8-megapixel selfie camera that offers beauty mode, voice-controlled selfie and click GIF selfie pictures as well.

On the software side, Oppo F1 continues the use of Oppo’s user interface (UI) that is reminiscent of the look and feel of CyanogenMod interface. The phone’s running on Android 5.1 Lollipop variant of their UI that, hopefully will get an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Sadly, Oppo seems to have given issue battery life a miss by opting for a 2500mAh unit that could play spoilsport to Oppo F1’s plans in the market.

Priced at Rs 15,990, Oppo has a tough fight on its hands with phones like Lenovo Vibe P1 punching above its weight, OnePlus X being a close competition, Xiaomi’s Mi series and the Motorola Moto-G range for starters.
