Social media giant Facebook is removing the messaging capability from its mobile web application to push people to Messenger.

The company served notice to the users saying, “Your conversations are moving to Messenger”. Anyone looking to use the messenger service from the browser is being redirected to the Google Play Store from where the Messenger app can be downloaded.

For the time being users can skip the notice, but soon they might be asked to download the Messenger app.

The company said it wants to provide the best possible experience in messaging and the Messenger app is the platform on which they have chosen to provide it. This basically means that pretty soon, everyone will have to download the Facebook as well as Messenger app on their mobile to use the services.

On Thursday, Facebook announced the development of a new artificial intelligence (AI) system called “DeepText” that can analyse what people are writing about in posts with near-human accuracy across 20 languages.

The company also revealed that the deep learning-based text understanding engine is being tested on Facebook Messenger.

For a country like India which is one of Facebook’s top user base market, the news of Messenger moving away from the desktop Facebook app will surely be met with strong reaction against the move.

Something that Myntra recently experienced when the shopping site decided to go app only but thankfully, they rolled back on that plan.
