Facebook Spent $22.6 Million on Zuckerberg’s Security

Though Zuckerberg’s base salary remained at $1 annually, his other compensation was listed at $22.6 million.

Facebook, in 2018 doubled the budget on the security of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg to $22.6 million (Rs 156 crore approx), according to a Reuters report citing a regulatory filing.

Though Zuckerberg’s base salary remained at $1 annually, his other compensation was listed at $22.6 million, most of which was allocated towards his security, the report said.

In 2017, the security budget for Zuckerberg stood at $9 million. He also received $2.6 million for personal use of private jets, something the company claims were a part of his security arrangement.

Facebook has been facing massive outrage since the past couple of years over concerns about data security of users, that picked up after relevations of the company sharing data of millions of Facebook profiles without consent.

COO Sheryl Sandberg took home $23.7 million in 2018, a drop from the $25.2 million in 2017, the report further said.
