Tool kit... of the many things the Bose SoundLink Revolve+ was confused for during its time at The Quint, never did people realise that this was actually a bluetooth speaker till they saw the logo (Bose) on the top of the gizmo. This speaker is class apart not only because it offers 360 degree sound but also the way it’s been designed.

What’s Good?
What makes the SoundLink Revolve+ a hot seller is its design. This is one of the most compact and portable speakers in the high-end category and that wins Bose some extra points. It comes with a carrying handle that makes carrying it around easier. The aluminium enclosure around the speaker makes it look premium, along with the rubberised texture around the edges that not only give more grip but also accentuate the shockproof capability of the speaker.
It comes with IPX4 water resistance, which means you can easily carry it to pool parties and it’ll do fine as long as you don’t drop it in the pool. It’s also shockproof and can easily survive a 2 to 3 foot drop.
The Revolve series also come with a threaded tripod mount on the bottom of the speaker that allows you to attach it to a wall mount or a stand. There are multiple ways to connect to the speaker via bluetooth, AUX and also a micro USB. Bluetooth connectivity to the device remains stable till 30 feet, beyond which connection will break. It also comes with nifty tap-to-pair feature thanks to NFC in the speaker.
The control panel at the top is simple enough to understand. You have the volume up and down buttons with an action button to answer calls and shuffle music. Very neat. The recording mic in the speaker can pick up audio from almost 10 feet away and also comes with Siri and Google Now feature.
Audio quality is great if you are looking for bass that is thumping and commands authority. Doesn’t really penetrate the JBL Extreme territory but has enough sound to rock your living room. Audio tends to fade at high volumes so make sure you keep it at reasonable levels so that it maintains a balance between not being too harsh and sustaining true bass.
What’s Bad?
The design and texture, although they look premium, are prone to a lot of scratches and smudges, especially the silver variant. Although Bose are trying hard to justify the price tag of Rs 24,500 with all the features bundled into the Revolve+, for the Indian market this still feels a bit pricey.
Worth Buying?
Bose has always catered to those looking for premium sound quality and innovative technology with a pinch of luxury added to it. In other words, for a niche category. Here, the Revolve+ is targeting those willing to spend that extra buck for not only rich audio but also a rugged form factor. If you have a budget of 25k and are looking for high-end tough speakers, the the Revolve+ should definitely be on top of your list.
