The entry level smartphone war is all heated up right now and the top contenders are the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) and Xiaomi Redmi 2. Both come at a price tag of Rs 6,999.

You really don’t have much to choose between the two in terms of specs. Once you look closely though the Xiaomi Redmi 2 makes more sense. Both the smartphones are available on Flipkart.com, take a look at their specs.

Performance

Both smartphones offer a seamless performance. Redmi2 and Moto E (2nd Gen) both come loaded with decent quadcore processors by Qualcomm.They both offer 1Gb RAM and they dont heat up. So, performance wise both the smartphones are at par.

Display

The display on the Xiaomi Redmi 2 is bigger marginally and bright. Its less reflective under direct sunlight and has good color fedility as compared to the Moto E (2nd Gen). Display wise the Xiaomi easily scores over the Motorola here.

Camera

Xiaomi Redmi 2 offers a 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel selfie camera upfront versus a 5 megapixel snapper on the Moto E (2nd Gen) and a VGA selfie camera. The image quality on both the smartphones is just average. But the lowlight performance of the Xiaomi is better though than the Moto E (2nd Gen.

Connectivity

Connectivity wise both the smartphones have all the bells and whistles that an entry level phone should have. Times are changing though and 4G connectivity is a prefered choice. That you get on the Xiaomi and not on Motorola.

Operating System

Moto E (2nd Gen)runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and Xiaomi has an older version of Android on it but a way better looking and user friendly user interface.

Battery

Both the smartphones easily last a day for an average user. So here again both phones are similar.

Which one Should you Buy?

Isn’t it obvious here? At the same price... the Xiaomi Redmi 2 offers a better camera, a better display and 4G connectivity. So skip the Moto E (2nd Gen) a for now... because Xiaomi wins this one hands down...
