Sunday is a day to relax and rejuvenate but that wasn’t the case on August 2. Indians turned red when they woke up on Sunday to find that the porn websites were not available on most internet service providers– including Vodafone, MTNL, ACT, Hathway and BSNL.
Sorry guys, your friendship day must have been ruined.
If India has decided to go against a Supreme Court decision and ban porn, so be it. But before we actually go and ban porn let’s talk about few other ‘items’ that should be banned alongside.
Sheila Ki Jawani to Mera Naam Mary
Item numbers in Bollywood films are a crowd puller. C Grade, B Grade, A Grade - actresses across grades go skimpy and provocative in their item numbers. And the Censor Board obliges.
So what is porn? The item number too shows men in a lather over the ‘item girl’. The difference lies only in having a few more clothes on.
Sunny Leone’s Desi Look
“Mulk ki madad toh main pehle se kar rahi hoon. Apne kapde utaar ke.” (I’ve been helping the country by removing my clothes). This was former porn star Karenjit Kaur aka Sunny Leone’s dialogue in her debut film Jism 2. We couldn’t help but notice how appropriate the line was.
Jism 2 flopped, but Sunny Leone was here to stay.
Keep Your Kama Sutra
It’s ironic that porn is banned in the land of Kama Sutra - ancient India’s definitive work on human sexual behavior.
If you can’t watch then why read and be proud of our heritage? Ban ’em all.
Khajuraho’s Temples of Love
The Khajuraho temples are known for their erotic sculptures. Explicit. On the outer walls of the temples. For all to see. Why not cover them all with cloth?
Why you may ask? Duh! These stone sculptures might arouse the public!
